People & Process first.
Heagney Logan Group helps organizations solve real operational problems — by getting the people and the process right to inform a technology decision. We represent you. Not the vendor.
Process.
Technology.
OUR MISSION
Ensuring you get the people
and the process right
to inform a technology decision.
Heagney Logan Group is a boutique consulting and advisory firm helping organizations solve real operational problems. We don't start with technology. We start with your people and your process — defining what needs to change, why it needs to change, and who needs to be equipped to sustain it. Technology is the last decision. Never the first.
We deliver tailored engagements across HR & Staffing Technology, Program Engagement Management, Service Delivery, Enabling Technology Solutions, Financial Leadership, and Portfolio Operations — each one built around your business, never off a shelf.
“CEOs want a consulting solution that’s tailored to the needs of their business. When asked whether they’re more likely to hire a consultant who delivers an off-the-shelf process or system, versus a personalized engagement, 85% of CEOs selected the latter.”
CLIENT ADVOCACY
Someone in that room
is representing the vendor.
Who’s representing you?
In any technology engagement, the vendor’s implementation team has one objective: get the system live and move on. Your business processes, your team adoption, your long-term success — those are not their KPIs. Ours.
Client Advocacy is not a service we offer. It is the posture behind every engagement we run. We are your voice in every vendor conversation, every design session, every implementation checkpoint — accountable only to your outcome.
01
Process before technology. Always.
The fastest way to scale a broken process is to automate it. We fix the process first — then select the technology to enable it. That sequence is not negotiable.
02
We’ve been on both sides of the table.
We were practitioners first and consultants second. We’ve led payroll & billing operations, managed global HR technology implementations, and served as the financial executives of major institutions. When we sit across the table from you, we have already lived the problem you are trying to solve.
03
Project methodology still matters.
Agile didn’t eliminate scope creep — it just gave it a new name. Accountability, stakeholder alignment, and risk management are not optional. We apply the right methodology to your engagement. Not the trendy one.
EXPLORE OUR SERVICES
Tailored to your business.
Never off a shelf.
_____
-
Strategic Human Capital Management and Staffing Industry technology evaluation, vendor selection, and implementation oversight — with your business goals driving every decision, not the vendor’s go-live date.
-
Complex transformation leadership from kickoff through delivery — with scope control, stakeholder alignment, and organizational change management built in from day one.
-
Operational execution at human scale — defining and managing the service delivery infrastructure that makes client commitments sustainable and repeatable.
Six practice areas. One consistent principle: your business goals drive every decision. Client Advocacy runs through all of them.
-
Microsoft 365, SharePoint, process automation, and systems integration — implemented after the process is defined and the people are prepared. Technology as the enabler, not the solution.
-
Strategic financial leadership and operational transformation — empowering cultural institutions and mission-driven organizations to achieve sustainable excellence.
-
Post-deal operational execution for PE firms and portfolio companies — technology diligence, systems integration, and process transformation under compressed timelines.
OUR APPROACH
People. Process. Technology
_____
This sequence is not a preference. It is the difference between transformation that holds and technology that gets abandoned. We have watched organizations skip the first two steps for 40 years. We know what happens next.
people
The right people, with the right knowledge and skills, supported by leadership buy-in at every level of the organization. Change fails when the people it affects are the last to know.
“People do the work.”
process
Clearly defined, documented, and stakeholder-aligned processes before any technology is selected. A system built on a broken process automates the failure — and scales it.
“Fix the process. Then enable it.”
technology
Technology selected after the process is defined and the people are prepared. Technology is the last decision — never the first. It enables what already works; it doesn’t replace judgment.
“Technology is the last decision. Not the first.”
-
The people need to have sufficient knowledge and the appropriate skills in order to succeed. These people include the stakeholders and the executive sponsors and owners of the implementation. The senior-level must have buy-in. They provide support both during and after the change.
It is not uncommon that top executives and heads of departments will instigate change without informing those who will be affected by it. Everyone impacted either during or after the change needs to be informed.
A failure to explain the new processes and the changes that will come about to those who will be affected by it will result, in frustration, confusion, and often resistance to change.
-
In the beginning, high-level activities need to be defined, these then being drilled down to the details. This is done by analyzing the dependencies, exceptions, and variation, and the supporting processes.
It is necessary to ensure that your stakeholder are both aware of and understand the processes. Each stakeholder needs to know his role and responsibility in the organizational change, as well as in the support that take place both during and after the change process.
If the change that will take place is complex, use a training program that is tailored to the roles of the employees for using the new system.
-
Do not invest in new tools and software, and then try to fit the people and processes in around them; this results in costly, ineffective, unrealized transformation initiatives.
Every initiative should have a goal that is defined by a “to-be” environment. This is achieved by first making the processes and people within the organization more efficient. Once this step has been reached, then technology and tools should be given to them to ensure they become more effective.
Using technology alone won’t solve problems. It can however, when used correctly, and in combination with defined process, articulated, trained, and well-informed people, provide visibly into events that is valuable and activity you need to know about in order to stay secure.
WHY HEAGNEY LOGAN GROUP —
We’ve been in your shoes.
_____
HLG’s roots are in HR operations and staffing back office technology going back to 1985. We spent over a decade running, supporting, and building payroll, billing, and field systems before most vendors had a product to sell — or even existed.
That was followed by fifteen years delivering HCM at global enterprise scale — leading complex, multi-workstream implementations across payroll, talent, compensation, and workforce management for large corporations.
Combine that with 30+ years of finance leadership across public accounting, corporate finance, and institutional management, including serving as the chief financial executive of one of the country’s premier cultural institutions.

Most consulting engagements have a conflict built into them. The vendor’s implementation team optimizes for go-live. The Big Four firm optimizes for the next engagement. Neither one is accountable to your outcome after the contract closes.
Our only measure of success is whether the engagement delivered what your business needed.
